We had a Micronesian feast for dinner. We had marinated grilled chicken and rice, noodles, taro and plantain curry, and mashed sweet potatoes cooked in coconut milk.

The Arts: Asian Arts

Weeks 28 and 29 of school we learned about Asian arts using Layers of Learning, year 2 unit 16.

We read The Seven Chinese Brothers as a reader’s theater.

Science: Electricity

Weeks 28 and 29 of school we learned about electricity using Layers of Learning, year 2 unit 16.

We tried to make electricity using nickels, foil, and salted vinegar soaked paper towels. It didn’t work at all. It was one of the few failed experiments of the year.
